I'm a guy and I've been planning to grow out my hair but I have no idea where to start. Anyone got any tips to help me out. Any type of hair cut I need to grow it out evenly, any shampoos I should use, or anything else I need to know? I've always had short hair and now that I'm out of school I might as well mess with my look. Thanx for any help

well, you should let your hair grow, and only if you see split ends should you go and get them trimmed off. (about every 3 months or so). and share with your stylist your idea for a new look so he or she can trim your hair in to the shape that will help you meet your goal quickly.

on an average hair grows about a quater of an inch a month so think of how long you would have to grow in order to acheive your desired length. use a good moisturizing shampoo and yes you do need conditioner.

try Aveda's Damage Remedy shampoo and conditioner. its smells great and has protein in it to help strengthen your strands. its a bit more expensive, but your not cutting it as often so it all balances out.

but remember, get a trim if you see ends that are split. if you dont the split will worsen and travel up the hair strand, damaging all that youve grown.

Get it cut regularly to make it grow faster and to aviod split ends. Tell the person who is cutting your hair your plan so that they don't cut it too short and they can also layer it how it should be. Also, you should wait to straight/layer it until it gets a little longer or else it will look funny now. Plus, then you will have a better idea of what you want.

lol no shampoo's I did this and i got my hair really long. I think like everybody has to do it someday just to see how it feels. I did it to just do it. My hair was so long and when i was sick of it i cut it. I would have done it in the winter since its so hot but it doesn't really matter. Just to tell you it gets really annoying but i did it any way and u should too. After you cut it (from being so long) you'll probably have trims like me and i finally got it shorter for the summer. If your hair isn't terrible bad now you don't need to cut it. When you grow it out make sure your back head isn't to long to start because it will go into a mullet.
